TED TALK: Simon Sinek tell us how great leaders inspire us

This is probably my favorite TED Talk, not only can this be applied to everyday life but the way apps can be created and be successful by such a simple idea.

  3. I've seen this talk before. It's good as far as Ted Talks go, which are to designed to wow people via good communications, but I've seen much better on the subject of success as it relates to marketing and the brain. Simon has only moderately modified dozens of other similar models that have come before him. That alone doesn't draw my criticism, what does is his repeated emphasis that people buy your why (which is the one unique thing he says). The problem is that might sound great but it can easily be debunked. Its true that people don't buy features. They buy results, and they may think those results are x amount of dollars or gallons of gas, but they are actually raw emotion. We've known since the 50s that people make decisions before they are consciously aware they've made them. In some ways he even says as much but he never really adequatly explains his thesis that people buy "your why." That's because, as he admits, people don't stand in line to buy a phone because its great. 'They do it to be first'. In other words they do it for their own why.
