One of the most intriguing facts
about mobile applications and the development of such is the fact that there
continues to be a growing plethora of technologies that enable users to create
their own apps little or no experience. If small business owners wish to create
apps specific to their business they are able to do so with various software
and tools designed to ensure satisfaction by beginner app developers. Not all
apps are made for everyone so having a unique app that integrates one’s
personal needs is critical to online success for some businesses.
Along
with uses of mobile apps for personal small businesses, some individuals are
utilizing these easy-to-use app creators to start their own small business
simply developing applications for other people. In today’s society, many
people have chosen to take the path of working from home to make a living.
Mobile App development is a great way for individuals to make large amounts of
money with easy step-by-step app development tools.
The
popular phrase “There’s an app for that” has been a growing trend over the past
few years and I believe it will continue to be a truthful statement for as long
as smart phones remain a fad. However, do you think that the mobile app
population will ever become extinct? Or do you think that there will always be
a use of applications that have not yet been created? In the future as more and
more apps are created I feel like there will be lack of innovation and need for
new apps because all apps will have their specific uses and there will be no
unfilled niches left.
As
this blog is concluded, it is amazing to think of all of the many uses of mobile
apps and how they add convenience and ease to our daily lives. Also, the luxury
of developing a mobile app online with no special program or experience is needed
which makes making apps so easy for many people. Has anyone ever tried to
develop mobile apps with an online service? If so, was it effective and easy to
use?
I agree in thinking that apps will eventually be used for specific purposes with no unfilled niches left.

ReplyDeleteAria, its not that difficult. The way many small app companies start is by outsourcing development. One way is through sites such as Freelancer and Odesk, which are like global auctions for services like app development. Another way is to outsource via a site like craigslist to someplace like the Philippines, where you can hire a full time dedicated programmer for less than $500.00 a month. You never even have to leave Charlotte.

ReplyDeleteJust because apps are relatively easy to make doesn't mean everyone can make a successful innovative app (that will actually benefit the company). Businesses that create apps are useful because they do there research and understand what makes a good app and what makes a bad app. Business that hire companies to help crete an app, for them, do so because they want their app to be successful as possible.
ReplyDeleteI generally agree with this. There are more lousy apps than good ones. Most apps aren't much more than glorified dedicated web-browsers. Certainly, companies want their apps to be "successful," but the majority of companies with apps remind me of the majority of companies with web pages. They're more image driven than function driven. If they're not part of a specific, defined, results-driven measurable strategy they're just a waste of time and money.
DeleteAs far as innovation goes and the ability to utilize apps for functionality in the physical world, where do you see that development coming about within the next couple decades? In other words, we have begun to see a shift in app genres from simple games to being able to control various functions of your house such as door locks and security systems. How long until we have apps that can control the other physical objects that surround us? Do you think it will just happen gradually over time or are we likely to see a boom in this kind of development?

ReplyDeleteMy Aunt owns her own business in Charlotte, and one of the main ways that her business generates income is by orders made online via her own personal website that she created. I wondered how she ( a very busy and non-computer-savy business woman) could create her very own personal business website. I didn't know it was so easy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the statement that there is an app for everything. I just wonder how people are still creating new apps. There will eventually be no new apps because there is already an app for everything.
ReplyDeleteI tend to disagree that no new apps will come on the market because newer information is making its way onto the internet and needs to be sifted through. Julius Sextus Frontinus a Roman engineer said, "Inventions have long since reached their limit, and I see no hope for further developments." Programs and apps in my mind are inventions.
DeleteI think its awesome how there is usually an app for everything! The only thing that irks me is when the app has bugs, and doesn't work right. I have to delete the app and find an alternative way to do what I needed to do. I think people who develop these apps are really innovative!
ReplyDeleteI agree that there is definitely an app for everything however, I have grown frustrated with how many apps are only created for one device or the other and are not released for the other for several months or even years. I got excited this past month when Disney Movies Anywhere finally released its Android! Yay, now I can watch my Disney Movies Anywhere!

ReplyDeleteI think you just helped me find a new career path! No seriously, I would love to create my own app just to say that I've done it. I guess that may be a bit of a problem though. Many apps on today's market serve the same or similar purposes and are not really desired to begin with.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Benjamin. It is definitely an overcrowded market. App creator is the new inventor in both the good way (innovation) and the bad way (everyone says they are one). Think bigger than just about making an app. Think of a way to utilize the technology to impact a major industry. You come up with something that adds value and removes waste from a business process and there is likely to be an incredible pay day coming your way. Some of the most profitable apps are the ones you've never heard of.
ReplyDeleteAlso note that since a lot of investors aren't seeing great ROI from some of these companies' IPOs, future valuations of similar companies is likely to be discounted out of skepticism. People will invest in what they have no idea how much money it will make. Once they know what it won't be, it's different.
I had no idea that there was platforms available for amateurs to create cell phone apps. I believe that this is an amazing tool for people to be creative and innovative. With that said, I believe apps will be around for a very long time and that people will continue to be creative and innovative with the creation of these apps. Although it may seem that every app we could ever need has been made, with new technologies arising, there will be apps to correspond in my opinion!
